Allegheny Lacrosse Officials Association

CHAPTER INFORMATION

About the ALOA,

The purpose of the ASSOCIATION as defined by our constitution shall be:
  • The recruitment, training, classification and maintenance of an adequate membership of qualified and competent officials whose integrity is above reproach for the use of the Assigning Authorities in collegiate, scholastic, club and recreational games.
  • The developing of a high standard of ethics, promoting fair play, sportsmanship, closer cooperation and better understanding among officials, principles, athletic directors, coaches, players and spectators.

Our association has officials that work all level of games. We are members of District 6 of the Men's Division Officials Council (MDOC) of US Lacrosse. We support and are active in the Pittsburgh and West Virginia chapters of US Lacrosse. We are also charter chapter members of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) which governs high school sports in the state of Pennsylvania. We serve middle school teams from the Western Pennsylvania Youth Lacrosse Association (WPYLA) and the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL), the Western Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association (WPSLA), the West Virgina Scholastic Lacrosse Association (WVSLA) and collegiate lacrosse teams in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), under the auspices of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA), the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) and the National Collegiate Lacrosse League (NCLL). The high school and youth area we officiate at extends from Erie, PA in the north to Charleston, WV in the south, and from the Ohio border in the west to Indiana, PA in the east. The college area we officiate covers the states of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Westerm Pennsylvania, Wisconson and West Virginia. As part of our commitment to the game of Lacrosse, we insist on only putting on the field highly trained and competent officials. To accomplish this, we mandate that all prospective officials must complete our US Lacrosse based training class that includes twenty hours of classroom work and mandatory on field scrimmage instruction. Only after this rigorous training do we assign officials to local games.
